I am not on any insurance panels. If you have a PPO policy, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is important that you check with your insurance company to see what type of reimbursement they may offer. You can find this out by calling the number on the back of your insurance card.
I am inspired by many styles of therapy. With individuals, I lean toward Collaborative Language Systems, which is a way of deeply listening to your story and what is going on with you, getting inside your world and seeing how your beliefs, thoughts, and experiences create the world you are living in. With couples, I mainly use Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, which focuses on attachment styles and how they affect what is going on when we are relating to our partner.
I am available Monday-Thursday and some Saturday hours by appointment only.
Therapy works best when it is consistent and frequent. Because we are working hard to undo long-standing patterns, it can be difficult to instill new patterns with less frequent sessions. Therefore, I require clients to commit to weekly sessions, at a minimum. This allows me to work as effectively and efficiently as possible.
I work with clients on a weekly basis in a time that is reserved for you each week. You are financially responsible for this weekly time for the duration of our work together. However, if you need to miss a session, I am happy to reschedule you into an open slot during the same week, or doubling up by having two sessions the week before or after your originally designated appointment time as long as there is 24 hour notice given. My attendance policy is detailed in your intake paperwork and I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have.
I meet with clients weekly and each session lasts for 50-minutes for individual and 75-minutes for couples. It is hard to know how long therapy will take as many things impact how quickly progress can be made.
For Individual Counseling, it really depends on what your goals are for therapy and what your own specific timeline is. I generally work with people for at least one year. However, this can take longer if you have experienced significant trauma. It can be beneficial to start with 3-6 months as a trial period to see how it is working for you. I encourage discussion at anytime around what is or isn’t working with you in therapy. This is an ongoing, collaborative relationship but you are in the driver’s seat.
In Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, it is common for this process to take 1-2 years of weekly counseling. However, if you have experienced significant trauma, abuse, or betrayals in the relationship, this could take longer. I usually recommend that couples start with 3-6 months of weekly sessions as a trial period to make sure you are finding this therapy helpful.
Most of the sessions I offer are via a secure teletherapy platform. However, I do have limited availability for in-person sessions.
